Job Description: 

Our Pet Segment is seeking a Backup CDL Driver- 2nd Shift to be a part of our DMC division based in Athens, TX. The primary role is to transport trailer loads of product to another physical location- locally. 

Responsibilities Include: 
  • Drives gasoline, diesel powered tractor-trailer combination or straight truck to transport and deliver products to our warehouse facility across the street from production plant.
  • Back in drops, pull out full and empty trailers.
  • Inspect truck equipment and supplies before and after trips and submits reports indicating condition of equipment.
  • Maintain an accurate daily driving log.
  • Work closely with other drivers and communicate shift information.
  • Maintain good housekeeping; clean truck, sweep and clean up spills.
  • Assist with Warehouse Associate duties (order selecting, loading/unloading of trucks).
  • Forklift driver for warehouse when not occupying CDL position.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
  • CDL required, with demonstrated experience driving/backing tractor-trailer combination.
  • Driver's license with excellent driving record, demonstrating safety first.
Special Skills/Abilities/Knowledge: 
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate with employees in a manner promoting a “team” work environment.
  • A DMC certification in forklift driving is required (company will train).
  • Must be willing to work overtime and adjust work shift schedule based on business needs.
  • Ability to use two-way communication equipment.
  • Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.
Work Environment: 
  • Hours of work will generally be during regular business hours (on each respective shift) and average at least 40 hours a week.
  • There may be some variation in work hours due to overtime, special projects, deadlines, and other concerns.
  • Generally, work is in exterior environment in all types of varying weather conditions (cold, heat).
