The Athens Economic Development Corporation (AEDC) hosted an inaugural Medical Manufacturing Roundtable at the Athens Country Club Wednesday afternoon, bringing together industry stakeholders for the first time.
This informal event provided a unique opportunity for local business leaders to connect, discuss challenges, and explore potential collaborations within the medical manufacturing sector.
"The medical device industry is very important for the city of Athens," said Mayor Aaron Smith, "and the Athens Economic Development Corporation wants to encourage those relationships."
The meeting emphasized community connection and the value of working together to foster economic growth in Athens.
"This was a chance for complementary businesses to develop partnerships with one another and possibly join in operations together to develop products," said Mayor Smith.
It was Tyson Baker’s suggestion that led to Wednesday's meeting.
Baker, Manager of Continuous Improvement at Argon, said, "We just thought it would be great to get together and talk about everyone's needs, and see if we couldn't come up with a strategy that would help all the companies in the area versus just one."
Participants included:
- Argon
- MedTex
- Steritec
- Biomerics
- Med-Logics
- City of Athens
- Athens Economic Development Corporation
