The Trinity Valley Small Business Development Center (TVCC SBDC), hosted by Trinity Valley Community College, continued TVCC’s winning tradition by earning the prestigious SBDC of the Year Award was awarded by the North Texas SBDC at the 2025 Small Business Administration’s (SBA) Small Business Awards Luncheon, held May 7 at the Hurst Conference Center in Fort Worth.
The honor, presented by the North Texas SBDC, recognizes top performing for their measurable impact on economic growth, job creation, and entrepreneurial support.
The event gathered entrepreneurs, bankers, brokers, accountants, SBA representatives, and key partners from across the region to celebrate excellence and collaboration within the small business ecosystem.
“We are deeply honored to receive this award,” said Jennifer Johnston, Director of the TVCC SBDC. “This recognition reflects the hard work and dedication of our team, the entrepreneurs we serve, and the collaborative partnerships that make business success possible in our region. I’m proud of the team’s efforts—it truly takes working together to accomplish more.”
The award celebrates a center that has not only met but significantly surpassed expectations in core performance areas, including client satisfaction, team effectiveness, outreach, and strategic execution. The Trinity Valley SBDC stood out for delivering results well above target:
- 147% of its clients served goal
- 105% of its business starts goal
- 155% of its job creation goal
- 252% of its capital infusion goal
These achievements reflect a culture of operational excellence, innovation, and client-centered service, setting a high standard for other centers to follow.
“This achievement is not ours alone,” said Johnston. “It’s shared with the chambers of commerce, economic development corporations, lending institutions, and Trinity Valley Community College, who support our mission of job creation, economic development, and business success across our five-county region.”
As part of the North Texas SBDC network, the Trinity Valley SBDC provides confidential, no-cost business advising and customized support to startups and existing businesses across Anderson, Henderson, Kaufman, Rains, and Van Zandt counties. Services include business planning, financial analysis, marketing strategy development, and loan packaging assistance.
SBDCs are often housed at community colleges due to the synergistic relationship that benefits students, local businesses, and the regional economy. The partnership between TVCC and the SBDC exemplifies this model, leveraging educational resources to fuel entrepreneurship and workforce development.
“This is a great recognition,” TVCC President Dr. Jason Morrison shared. “The agency works tremendously hard to bring attention to business opportunities that promote community growth and entrepreneurship.”
